Spring Break at LINC!
Spring break was a fun and bustling time for LINC this past week!
Students from Lakewood High School came to Faith Lutheran over the 5 day period for lunch and games.
LINC was fortunate enough to have sponsored meals from near by food establishments. Monday saw food from Costco bought by LINC, in bulk, because of course. Tuesday flew in with food from Buffalo Wild Wings. Wednesday was Italian inspired and MOD Pizza delivered. The mini pies were even eaten from the boxes to save from having to use plates. Thursday gave LINC a little spice when Chipotle gave taco supplies. The air hockey table was at peak capacity and the chafing dishes emptied quickly. Friday finished off the week with sandwiches from Jersey Mikes.
During the week, volunteers from Faith Lutheran helped the LINC Northwest staff with the many hungry mouths. They also did in more ways than one. While some acted as servers during lunch, others had been working in the back ground to help with dinner.
Dinner was not served at LINC but at home. The previous weeks Faith Lutheran had been collecting non-perishables for a parish food bank. The students were then, if needed, given the chance to take food home for breakfasts and dinners during spring break.
Faith Lutheran and LINC wanted to make sure that all students who arrived had the chance to keep their growing bodies sustained with as much as they needed.
With local students often seeing hunger as an issue LINC sees this spring break event as a recurring in the future.
A very special and grateful thank you to all of the establishments and volunteers who gave to these students this past week!
