The Marysville Emergency Weather Shelter (MEWS) provides a safe and welcoming space for unhoused community members. Our shelter is staffed during emergency weather events, such as extended high temperatures or flooding, and during the cold weather season when the forecast is 34°F or below. Because our shelter operations depend on official activation by Snohomish County, dates vary.

MEWS Cold Weather Shelter Information
The cold weather shelter operates from November 1 through March 31 and is activated by Snohomish County on nights that are 34 degrees or colder.
Shelter hours are from 7:00 PM to 8:00 AM, with guest entry permitted between 7:00 PM and 9:30 PM.
Pets and service animals are welcome at the shelter. All pets must remain safely crated during their stay.
Our sleeping areas are designated as a women’s/couples’ section and a men’s section. While these areas are separated, they are located within one shared, open room rather than separate rooms.
Dinner and warm drinks are provided, along with other basic supplies when available.
Air filtration systems operate throughout the shelter to help improve air quality and reduce the spread of germs.
For guests who need them, bed pads are available for any overnight incontinence issues so that everyone can rest as comfortably as possible.
Transportation: Community Transit offers free rides to the shelter on nights the shelter is open, making it easier for guests to access a safe place to stay. Route 222 arrives at Grove St & 51st Ave NE, which is the closest bus stop to the shelter.

MEWS Summer Outreach Information
Please check back with us in late spring 2027 for updates on our Summer Outreach Program, which typically runs from mid-June through August.
During periods of hot weather, Summer Outreach provides temporary cooling stations where community members can get out of the sun, access cooling supplies, receive food, and connect with helpful resources and support.
We are grateful for the community partners who have helped make this outreach possible in the past, including the Marysville Sno-Isle Library and Bethlehem Lutheran Church.
